After that, we will delve into the enchanting San Antonio Colonial Quarter, which is home to the second oldest church in the city, built in 1747. From here, we can enjoy a beautiful panorama. We continue to the famous Gato del Río and the picturesque Parc las Novias del Gato, a place full of charm and mystery with an intriguing history, before stopping at La Palabra Cali. An hour and a half from Cartagena, between the mountains, is San Basilio de Palenque, a place where, despite the passage of time, its inhabitants live as they did a few centuries ago, guided by their African customs, traditions and rituals. The small village has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has a fascinating history, being the birthplace of many styles of Afro-Colombian music and dance. The palenquelas, symbol of San Basilio de Palenque, are black women who, in their multicolored dresses, walk, moving their hips and swinging trays full of fresh fruit on their heads.
